Official Rules

Monsterpocapalooza is two contests in one, where you the players will work with your favorite participating* local game store to put on and promote the most exciting and outrageous launch event conceivable for the release of Monsterpocalypse Series 3: All Your Base.

*First things first: in order to be part of Monsterpocapalooza, your local game store has to sign up for the Monsterpocapalooza event by registering the event on www.privateerevents.com. If your local game store does not register, your entries cannot be considered for the contest.

Monsterpocapalooza is too big to be contained in one contest, so we’ve divided it into two parts with two different prizes.

Part 1: Promotional Video

You might be planning the best event ever, but without the right kind of promotion, no one is ever going to know about it. So the first contest in Monsterpocapalooza is to make an amazing promotional video.

This could be a documentary about how you’re promoting your event, or it could be more of a commercial or even a rock video—whatever you can imagine, as long as it does the job of drawing attention and informing people about your event. Most importantly, you need to be entertaining, because this competition is going to be judged by your fellow Monsterpocalypse fans!
Once your video is complete, you’ll upload it to YouTube (www.youtube.com) and then complete the Promotional Video submission form located here on www.monsterpocapalooza.com. Videos will be voted on by the public, who will determine the top 10 promotional videos that will then be judged by Privateer Press.

We’ll pick one video from the top 10 as the winner, and the store featured in that video will win the Grand Monsterpocapalooza Prize—an outrageous Monsterpocalypse Series 4: Monsterpocalypse Now launch party hosted by Privateer Press staff to celebrate the release of the new series! (Monsterpocalypse Now is scheduled to release in October 2009.) We’ll bring swag, prizes, and food, and we’ll play games all day at the coolest launch event your store has ever seen.

Important details you need to know when making your promotional video:

  • Make sure you work with the owner and manager of your store, just in case they’re not the partying type. You must have their permission to enter your video. We suggest getting together with the other Monsterpocalypse players in your community and make this a team effort, because everyone is going to be rewarded.
  • Deadline for submission is July 9, 2009. However, the sooner you get your video online, the more time there will be to vote on it, as well as draw attention to your event. (Monsterpocalypse Series 3: All Your Base is scheduled to release July 10, 2009.)
  • Promotional videos may be a maximum of 3 minutes in length. Any longer and they won’t fit in our mailbox. So keep your video tight or all your hard work will be for nothing.
  • DO NOT use copyrighted music in your video. You know how nasty those music companies can be. Keep your video free of other people’s copyrighted and trademarked property.
  • DO NOT do anything illegal or dangerous in your video. We want you around to enjoy your winnings.
  • You can enter as many videos as you like, but only one store can win the party.
  • The winning store will be contacted after Privateer Press has judged the top 10 videos, and we’ll post an announcement online letting the world know who’s ready for the academy.
  • When you post your video be sure to tag it with Monsterpocapalooza to make searching for it a breeze, and copy down the web link. You’ll need it when you fill out the official submission form.

Part 2: Event Video

The purpose of going through all this trouble in the first place is to have a radical Monsterpocalypse launch party for Monsterpocalypse Series 3: All Your Base, and we want to reward you for those efforts. So make sure you capture your event on film and show us the highlights of your event.
You’ll load your Event Video up on YouTube (www.youtube.com) and then complete the Event Video submission form located here on www.monsterpocapalooza.com. Privateer Press will review your monstrous extravaganzas and select the three store events we think stand out as the best examples of launch parties we’ve ever seen.

Every participant registered for the event through www.privateerevents.com at each of the winning stores will receive a FULL METAL MEGA CYBER KHAN—a solid metal, super rare mega form of one of the new monsters you’ll see in Series 4: Monsterpocalypse Now. (FULL METAL MEGA Cyber Khans will be shipped by November 2009.)

Important details you need to know when making your event video:

  • The store hosting the event must have their event registered at www.privateerevents.com two weeks prior to the event. To be eligible to receive a FULL METAL MEGA Cyber Khan, you must be registered and attend the event.
  • Monsterpocalypse Series 3: All Your Base is scheduled to release July 10, 2009. All launch events must be held between July 10 and July 26, 2009.
  • Make sure you work with the owner and manager of your store, just in case they’re not the partying type. You must have their permission to enter your video.   • DO NOT use copyrighted music in your video. You know how nasty those music companies can be. Keep your video free of other people’s copyrighted and trademarked property.
  • DO NOT do anything illegal or dangerous in your video. We want you around to enjoy your winnings.
  • You can enter as many videos as you like, but we’ll be picking only three stores as winners of the FULL METAL MEGA Cyber Khans.
  • The three winning stores will be contacted after Privateer Press has reviewed the videos, and we’ll post an announcement online letting the world know who throws the most kick-ass party.
  • When you post your video be sure to tag it with Monsterpocapalooza to make searching for it a breeze, and copy down the web link. You’ll need it when you fill out the official submission form.
